Q19-As we age, do our enzymes get weaker?

Yes.  Research found that the enzyme of the saliva in young adults was 30 times stronger than in persons over 69 years old.  Another researcher found amylase to be stronger in the urine of young adults as compared to older adults.  There is an abundance of literature that shows that rats and other experimental animals live longer when their food is significantly reduced.  An explanation for this research finding could be that less food means fewer digestive enzymes are required to digest the reduced food intake.  This could contribute to a higher enzyme potential, which could keep death away as well as arm the body against disease.
